Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits Win at Winnipeg, 4-3
|
The Corpus Christi Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits faced a tough opponent in Winnipeg pitcher Tony Soto, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Pokey Reddick Park by a final score of 4-3. Soto went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Héctor Mercado, now 3-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Corpus Christi has now won 3 in a row.
Corpus Christi used the timely hitting of Manuel López to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Corpus Christi manager Mike Weaver. "It's usually not just one thing."
