Oakland Loses, 7-4, in 12
|
Boston and Oakland duked it out and the Red Sox came out victorious.
The Boston Red Sox grabbed a win, 7-4, over the Oakland Athletics in 12 innings at Network Associates Coliseum. Boston center fielder Jody Gerut was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Picking up the save was Brett Rudrude. He's now 1 for 2 in save chances.
Gerut had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 1-2 changeup from Joe Borowski, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Red Sox a 7-4 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Gerut.
"It was a solid team effort," said Gerut after the game.
With the win, the Red Sox sit at 46-39.
