Giants Thwart Angels, 3-1
|
The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Pac Bell Park, courtesy of Jimmy Anderson. The left-hander helped his team stop the Anaheim Angels, 3-1. Anderson yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-6. Doug Davis was credited with the save, his 1st in 2 tries.
San Francisco took a 3-1 lead on Todd Helton's 8th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Helton hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Anaheim pitcher Gabe DeHoyos visibly frustrated.
"It was just a matter of executing," said San Francisco manager Dusty Baker.
At 38-40, San Francisco is in 15th place in the Virtual Baseball League.
