Reds Squeeze By New York, 3-2
|
Cincinnati beat New York at Cinergy Field, eking out a 3-2 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman Adam Dunn. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Cincinnati reliever J.C. Romero picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jose Jimenez absorbed the loss. The Reds now own a record of 32-44.
Dunn had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-2 fastball from Jose Jimenez, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Reds a 3-2 lead. It was the 22nd home run of the year for Dunn.
"Tough loss," said New York manager Scott Erickson. "But we'll learn from it."
