Einar Diaz Named GULF's Best Player

Einar Diaz of the GCL Reds had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2004.

The 31-year-old third baseman put up a .434 average and a .550 on-base percentage, piling up 72 hits, 29 doubles, no triples, 3 home runs, 26 RBIs and 45 runs scored.

He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 14. Joe Mather of the Kingsport Mets finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Asdrubal Cabrera of the GCL Royals finished third.
