Gulf Coast League Names Top Player Monday, May 10th , 2004 Juan Nieto is respected by most GCL Royals fans for his no-frills style of play. The 19-year-old center fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Gulf Coast League Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .500 average (10-for-20) with 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored. So far this year, Nieto has 4 home runs and a .273 batting average. |
