31-Game Hitting Streak for Martínez Wednesday, July 19th , 2028 Gonzalo Martínez ran his hitting streak to 31 straight games today at Fiondella Field, when he collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats. The feat came, however, as the Monroe Bearcats dropped the game, 10-7, to the Norwalk Bears. "Hey, the streak is great -- I hope it never ends," Martínez said later. "But I'm not happy to lose the game." Gonzalo Martínez hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. In 85 games this year Martínez has posted a .389 average and put up these numbers: 24 home runs, 92 RBIs and 94 runs scored. |
