Montés Hitless, Stopped by Black Bears Tuesday, June 1st , 2027 All good things must come to an end -- and so it was today for José Montés as he saw his 20-game hitting streak end. He went hitless in 3 at-bats at the hands of the Blessed Trinity Black Bears. It wasn't all bad for the 15-year-old first baseman and the DeSoto Central Jaguars however, as they defeated Blessed Trinity 14-12 at St. Petersburg HS Grounds. When asked about his hitting streak, a smiling Montés laughed and said, "I guess my luck ran out today." This season Montés is hitting .449 with 75 hits, 11 home runs, 56 RBIs, scored 45 runs and played in 45 games. |
