Ervin on Fire: 5-for-6 for McNeese State Monday, August 9th , 2032 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Mike Ervin of the McNeese State Cowboys had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate today in the 18-10 win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs at Washington Trust Field and Patterson Complex. "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 19-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Mike Ervin singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Matt Kelly in the 4th, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Ervin has collected 88 hits for the Cowboys this year, 15 of them home runs. He has also netted 47 RBIs and scored 47 runs while batting .295. View Boxscore |
