Blackwell Parks 3 for Mississippi State Saturday, July 17th , 2032 It was a good day for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and an exceptional one for Justin Blackwell. The 19-year-old second baseman sent three bombs out of the park to help the Bulldogs beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 13-6 at Dudy Noble Field, Polk-DeMent Stadium. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Blackwell said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 4 times, drove in 6 runs and smacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats. Justin Blackwell doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off José Carrillo in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Kasper van Aalst in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off Kasper van Aalst in the 6th. This year Blackwell is hitting .412 with 61 hits, 9 home runs, 37 RBIs and has scored 39 runs. |
