The Memphis left fielder had a fantastic 5-for-5 day against the Alabama Crimson Tide, leading his club to victory, 12-9. "I was seeing the ball very well and it was going just about anywhere I wanted," Baker said later." Joe Baker doubled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Kanne de Vos in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Kanne de Vos in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off George Ryan in the 7th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
