Baker Blasts 3 out of the Park Wednesday, July 14th , 2032 Joe Baker went on an explosive hitting spree against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Sewell-Thomas Stadium today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Memphis Tigers to the 12-9 win. The left fielder finished 5-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 5 RBI. "It was just one of those days," Baker said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Alabama skipper Dave MacKinney said Baker was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Joe Baker doubled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Kanne de Vos in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Kanne de Vos in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off George Ryan in the 7th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 9th. So far on the season Baker is hitting .382 with 32 home runs, 88 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 109 hits and played in 79 games. |
