Retrievers End Curtis's Streak Sunday, June 20th , 2032 The Villanova Wildcats lost to the UMBC Retrievers 6-5 today at Alumni Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Marc Curtis's 35-game hitting streak. The third baseman went 0-for-2 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Curtis, we would win the game," Retrievers manager Jimmy Webb explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." This year Curtis has hit at a .387 pace and produced 68 RBIs, 22 home runs and scored 52 runs. |
