5-for-5 Day for Schaefer Saturday, May 29th , 2032 It was a sensational day at the plate for Saint Mary's Gaels first baseman Sean Schaefer, but a tough one for the team, as the Gaels dropped the contest 9-6 to the Texas A&M Aggies. Even with the loss, Schaefer was pure misery for the Texas A&M pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-5 in an explosive display of hitting. "It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Schaefer, who is the 17-year old first baseman . "Schaefer really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Aggies manager Justin Knoedler told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Sean Schaefer doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and tripled in the 9th. This season Schaefer is hitting .360 with 50 hits, 3 home runs, 21 RBIs, scored 22 runs and played in 42 games. View Boxscore |
