Thursday, April 29th , 2032
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Juan Ortíz of the USC Trojans had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate today in the 15-10 win over the New Mexico Lobos at Santa Ana Star Field.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 19-year-old left fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Juan Ortíz walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jack Brear in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off José Rocha in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Shawn Alexander in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This year Ortíz has hit at a .327 pace and produced 17 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 10 runs.
