Big 3-HR Day for Ortíz Thursday, April 29th , 2032 It was a good day for the USC Trojans and an exceptional one for Juan Ortíz. The 19-year-old left fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Trojans beat the New Mexico Lobos 15-10 at Santa Ana Star Field. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Ortíz said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 4 times, drove in 7 runs and smacked 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Juan Ortíz walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jack Brear in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off José Rocha in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Shawn Alexander in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. In 14 games Ortíz is hitting .327 this season with 18 hits, 6 home runs, 17 RBIs, 5 walks, .383 OBP and has scored 10 runs. |
