Carolina's Lester, Pitcher of the Year Award Winner

Jon Lester of the Carolina Mudcats outdid his pitching peers this year and has been honored with the 2005 Eastern League Pitcher of the Year Award.

During his remarkable year Lester posted a 14-2 record in 27 starts. In 164 innings he yielded 129 hits and 57 walks while striking out 169 and compiling a fine 3.02 ERA.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 14. Matt Torra of the Harrisburg Senators finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Bear Bay of the Binghamton Mets finished third with 1 first place vote.
