Pavkovich Connects for 3 Homers for Curve
Saturday, August 20th , 2005
Altoona Curve shortstop Adam Pavkovich put on a dazzling display of power at Blair County Ballpark against the Harrisburg Senators. In the 8-6 Curve victory, Pavkovich penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Harrisburg manager Julio Jimenez said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 23-year-old had 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Pavkovich said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Adam Pavkovich grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Wade Townsend in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Wade Townsend in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jose Vaquedano in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
At present, Pavkovich is batting .272 and has collected 17 home runs, 48 RBIs, .333 OBP and scored 53 runs.
