Manager Valverde Leaves, Dismissed by Wichita State Tuesday, October 21st , 2031 Earlier reports stating Shockers manager Júlio Valverde was fired were confirmed today by team officials. Valverde's time as Wichita State manager ended due to reasons undisclosed by the team, but rocky relations with players along with disagreements with the front office can probably be credited for the dismissal. Valverde had no comment on the situation, but ownership did have a comment. "We thank Júlio for his time with the team, but we felt it was time to part ways," team general manager Joe Unknown said in a statement. "Expectations were not met and promises were not fulfilled, and the Shockers would rather continue their commitment to winning with a new manager and a different direction." A successor has not been named, though some names have been speculated to be next in line for the job. A press conference introducing the next coach should be held in the coming days, but for now the only official news is that Valverde's tenure as manager is over. |
