Spartans Prevail, as College Divisional Round 1 Goes to the Wire Tuesday, September 23rd , 2031 Depending on your loyalties, the College Divisional Round 1 was either thrilling or heartbreaking. The series went down to its final game, with the San Jose State Spartans and the Nebraska Corn Huskers giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Spartans came out on top, winning 7-0 at Haymarket Park today to take the series 2-1. "We're lucky to be going into the College Divisional Round 2," said San Jose State pitcher George Quarles. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason." Quarles earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .538 average, with 1 home runs, 4 RBI and 4 runs scored. The San Jose State Spartans will play against the Lamar Cardinals in the next round.
