Retrievers Chill Hernández's Hot Streak Tuesday, September 16th , 2031 The UMBC Retrievers pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Howard Hernández hitless in 3 at-bats during the club's 7-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats at Alumni Field. The disappointing performance ended a 27-game hitting streak for the left fielder. "I'm a little down right now," Hernández said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." This year Hernández is hitting .333 with 11 home runs and 48 RBIs in 119 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .384 with 33 walks and 83 runs scored. |
