Chávez Clobbers 3 HR Against Golden Gophers Tuesday, September 16th , 2031 Francisco Chávez of the Florida Gators had a lot to celebrate in today's 9-5 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers after pounding a trio of home runs at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium. "I'm just closing my eyes and swinging as hard as I can," he joked with reporters after the game. "It worked well today." The powerful Florida first baseman tagged 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5 runs and scored 3 times in his three-homer outburst. "We talked about changing our strategy for the third one, and then he went and hit another homer," Minnesota manager Carlos Zúñiga said. "We just couldn't get him out." Francisco Chávez flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Terumoto Murakami in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Terumoto Murakami in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Brian Holder in the 8th.
