Adams Goes Cycling

Dennis Adams did everything he could for the Nevada Wolfpack today -- literally.

The 18-year-old left fielder hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Wolfpack, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 8-3, at Washington Trust Field and Patterson Complex.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Adams reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Adams banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Dennis Adams singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Héctor Cuevas in the 8th and hit an RBI triple in the 10th.

A look at his season totals shows Adams with 36 home runs, .373 BA, .413 OBP, 104 RBIs and 95 runs scored.
