Moreno Strokes 3 HR Against Wichita State Friday, August 29th , 2031 Evansville Purple Aces first baseman Craig Moreno sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Wichita State Shockers, Moreno told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Moreno pushed the Purple Aces past the Shockers, 8-2. To go along with the homers, he collected 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Moreno told reporters after the game. Craig Moreno hit a solo-shot off Willard Chamberlain in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Raúl Pérez in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Chris Dawson in the 9th. In his stats this season, Moreno has posted a batting average of .386 with 17 hits in 44 at-bats, 4 home runs and 16 RBIs. He has also scored 5 runs, walked 4 times and compiled a .429 OBP. |
