Hitting Streak Still Alive for Martin Thursday, August 28th , 2031 Win or lose, Eric Martin just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games. The Southern Illinois Salukis first baseman went 1-for-2 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 4-3 by the Stanford Cardinal at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Eric Martin grounded out in the 1st, hit a sac fly in the 4th and singled in the 6th. This season Martin is hitting .345 with 143 hits, 33 home runs, 96 RBIs, scored 86 runs and played in 124 games. |
