Warhawks Ine Smacks 5 Hits Saturday, August 16th , 2031 Shuji Ine was at the head of a Louisiana Monroe Warhawks hit parade today at Warhawk Field. The 19-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Maine Black Bears that marched off with the 14-12 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Warhawks skipper Bruce Chen following the game. "Shuji did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Ine did more than fine, dominating the Black Bears at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging left fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Shuji Ine grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and doubled in the 9th. This season Ine has hit at a .316 clip and produced 56 runs batted in, 9 home runs and 55 runs. View Boxscore |
