Indiana Loses Greg van Aarts for Season Saturday, July 31st , 2027 The doctors have spoken and Greg van Aarts of the Indiana Hoosiers didn't like what he heard. The 20-year-old catcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. van Aarts sustained his season-ending injury during the North Carolina Tarheels game yesterday at Bart Kaufman Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the Indiana medical staff reported van Aarts had a fractured ankle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4 months. In his stats this season, van Aarts has posted a batting average of .268 with 19 hits in 71 at-bats, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has also scored 12 runs, walked 10 times and compiled a .373 OBP. |
