It's Over: Blazers Stop Bowles
Wednesday, August 6th , 2031
For 21 straight games, Ryan Bowles tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 18-year-old Stony Brook Seawolves second baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the UAB Blazers. The Blazers held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Joe Nathan Field today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 21.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Seawolves took the win by the score of 3-2.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

This year Bowles has socked 104 hits in 338 at-bats for a .308 average with 14 home runs. He is getting on base at a .364 pace and his totals also include 63 RBIs and 56 runs scored.
