Penn State Snaps Kelly's Streak at 24
Friday, July 18th , 2031
Tennessee Volunteers third baseman Bob Kelly finally met his Waterloo.
A 24-game hitting spree is now history after Kelly was unable to make anything happen in 3 at-bats today against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Fortunately for Kelly and the Volunteers, the rest of his team had enough in their bats to win the game 5-2.
"We're a true team here," he said. "For 24 games I've been able to contribute, but I always believed these guys would take care of things if I couldn't some day."
Kelly is hitting .349 for the season with 21 home runs, 69 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 113 hits in 324 at-bats and played in 86 games.
