5-for-5 Day for Bernel Monday, July 5th , 2027 No matter what the UC Irvine Anteaters threw at him today, Mario Bernel hit it. He easily handled Anteaters pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Cowboys to a 13-1 triumph at Cicerone Field. "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview. Told of Bernel's quip, Anteaters skipper J.J. Horne said he "would take him up on that next time." Mario Bernel doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
