Spiezio Cracks 5 Hits
Wednesday, June 30th , 2004
The Fresno Grizzlies stopped the Portland Beavers by a score of 23-3 at PEG Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Scott Spiezio. The 31-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Spiezio said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Spiezio did just that in his 7 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Beavers.
"Not much that I can say," offered Portland manager Skylar Smith. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Scott Spiezio singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
So far this season, Spiezio has put up a .333 batting average with 48 hits, 5 home runs and 25 RBIs.
