Fidel Chavarria Injured, Out for Year Wednesday, September 1st , 2004 The season is apparently over for Fidel Chavarria. The Las Vegas 51s medical staff informed the club that the catcher will be out at least 5 months with a broken kneecap. Chavarria was hurt in the game against Edmonton while being hit by a pitch. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season. In 32 games this season, Chavarria is batting .140 with 7 hits and no home runs. He has scored 7 runs and driven in 4. |
