Death Valley left fielder Jeremy Townsend contributed to his team's 9-4 win over the Hartford Whalers. Townsend, who finished 4th in the AL in RBI with 119 in 2028, went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Buzzards. The victory gives Death Valley a record of 26-21.

The Buzzards had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 9-4, Death Valley, with one out. Hartford, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Ed de Leeuw dug in at the plate, but on a full count fastball, he hit into a double play.
