Cortéz Cracks 5 Hits
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Armando Cortéz, it came around today.

The 32-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Rough Rider Stadium to pace the Hialeah Honey Bugs to a 6-5 victory over the Durham Bulls.

Durham skipper Roberto Álvarez told reporters in the press room that "Cortéz deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Cortéz hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Armando Cortéz hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.

So far this year in 9 games Cortéz is hitting .333 with no home runs, 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
