Tigers Win College Divisional Round 2
|
Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field played host to the climax of an exciting College Divisional Round 2 tonight.
The LSU Tigers and East Carolina Pirates battled hard throughout the whole series, for the chance to move on to the College League Championship.
In the end, LSU won the final game by a score of 3-1 and took the series 3-2.
"I think fans got their money's worth in this series. It was just great baseball all the way around," said Tigers starting pitcher Norm Porter, who earned the nod as series MVP. "LSU fans especially, I'm sure they're all worked up right now."
For the series, Porter had a 0.73 ERA over 12.1 innings pitched. He added 5 strikeouts with a 2-0 record.
The LSU Tigers will play against the Illinois Fightin' Illini in the next round. Illinois won their series against the Stony Brook Seawolves 3 games to 0. The College League Championship schedule will be announced after the College Divisional Round 2 finishes.
