The Seattle Mariners picked up a win at Safeco Field, downing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 2-1. On the mound for Seattle was right-hander Justin Verlander, who played a pivotal role in the win. Seattle reliever Dave Borkowski picked up the win, raising his record to 6-9. Michael Tejera was tagged with the loss. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Seattle.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Seattle shortstop Michael Barrett, facing Michael Tejera, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Mariners the 2-1 win.
