After a 5-hit effort to lead BYU's 15-4 victory over the Northwestern State Demons, left fielder Victor Simmons told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the College Baseball-level is really something special."

The 19-year-old player earned his accolades today at Larry H. Miller Field with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Demons.

"His swing is getting there," said Cougars skipper Mendy Lopez, who spoke glowingly of Simmons after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Victor did that to perfection today."

Victor Simmons hit a solo-shot off Robinson Salazar in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Robinson Salazar in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 7th.

In 2032 Simmons has hit at a .368 clip with 164 hits, 21 home runs, 76 RBIs and has scored 88 times.
